Hey guys! I just finished writing my last assessment piece for the trimester so I figured what better way to celebrate than to do a book tag!
You can find the original tag here.
Hey guys! Today I’m coming at you with a book tag, which is a fun break from all the discussions and recommendations I’ve been posting lately. So thank you so much to Rebecca @ BookishlyRebecca for tagging me because maybe you just saved a life???
SCARLET WITCH! This chick is fab and needs all the rep! I feel like she’s only in the MCU for the love story but I think she’s amazing so… what’s up Marvel???
I honestly think she gets a lot of flack and definitely isn’t used to her full potential in the movies because come on, are you telling me *spoilers* that Wanda can hold off Thanos with one hand and kill the love of her life with the other but that she’s too weak for pretty much anything else? Nope, I want a Scarlet Witch spinoff about her cooking with Vision and kicking butt on her off days.
I wasn’t totally sure what I would answer for this question because my immediate answer was Jessica Jones because I was thinking about MCU women (and The Defenders). But, that doesn’t *totally* work for this one because she has her own show and how can she overshadow herself??? So, I’m going with Trish Walker for this one (keeping in mind that I haven’t seen season 2) because I really enjoyed her character in season 1 and thought she was interesting and complex which I loved about her.
I mean, I feel like the answer could only be Laurel??? From Arrow??? (It could also high-key be Lyla Diggle from Arrow). I was never a big fan of her in the first couple of seasons but, I did start to like her as the show went on (probably around season 3ish) but I felt like the show never really treated her well and she was always getting the short end of the proverbial stick.
^^ The actual love of my life
I have only read a few comics with Gwen actually in them and I read them a while ago but, I think os far I definitely enjoy her more in Andrew Garfield’s run of the Spider-Man movies. I just love the character so much in the movies that I am immediately underwhelmed whenever I read Spider-Gwen or see her in a comic.
I’m going to have to go with you on this one, Rebecca and say Velma Dinkley. We almost never get any info on her, compared to the rest of the gang. In my favourite Scooby-Doo cartoon (Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated [LINK]), we definitely get a bit more background on her and we get to meet her parents and stuff like that, but we more get background on other characters like Daphne and Fred (oh my lord his father has the best phrases my life is better because of his dialogue).
Bottom line, I would love to actually learn more about Velma outside of Science classes and love stories.
SAMIRAH AL-ABBAS aka. the most badest ass to ever bad an ass. I don’t know that she’s necessarily overlooked by the characters in the Magnus Chase trilogy, but I feel like she is overlooked in general, in Riordan’s world. I mean, I love Annabeth Chase (with my whole heart) and I think Piper Mclean is an actual badass BUT you know who is also a beautiful and complicated badass? My love, Samirah Al-Abbas.
Katharine from Three Dark Crowns! She is absolutely nuts and she’s one of my absolute favourite characters! She is a total hardass and take-control villain!
Audrey Rose Wadsworth. The actual love of my life (I seem to have a lot of those, don’t I?) I’m honestly, just stunned in general that this series isn’t more popular. But, I love pretty much all of the women in this series and they all have a special place in my heart, Audrey Rose most of all.
I don’t know if this is cheating or not, because I haven’t finished the book yet, but I feel like Pity Jones from Gunslinger could do with a bit more love? I mean, she’s a total badass with a gun and she’s here to show us what westerns should really look like (aka. women should be front and centre, not just the men).
Destiny @ HowlingLibraries because I love her very much and she should be tagged in every post ever.
Charlotte @ Charlotte Annelise because her blog is actually goals
So, My Plain Jane is coming out on the 26th and I am screaming. I have been wanting to make more original content lately and I’ve wanted to create more posts that I can properly share with you guys and then Rebecca came into my life like a shining bookish angel. We wanted to celebrate one of our most anticipated releases of the year; My Plain Jane, the companion sequel to My Lady Jane. And so we created The Lady Janies Book Tag! I hope you guys will all get excited with us and hopefully join in and do this tag too!
I don’t know that I really have a favourite lgbtqia+ book (there are too many amazing books to choose from) but, these are some of the most recent ones I’ve read that I’ve loved! I’ve tried to add books from different genres to my list and I think these have all been really fun!
This is one of my favourite books ever. The Giver hits me every time I read it. It’s like being hit by a truck and then run over by a bus of screaming children… but in a good way.
The Giver is really fun and really smart and I love it more each time I read it.
I really want to be cliche and say Elizabeth Bennet but instead, I’m only going to be partially cliche and go with Anne Elliot from Persuasion by the Jane Austen. I could’ve said so many other characters like Meg Murry or Anne Shirley but, I think Anne is a more relatable character. Anne is strong and resilient but always copping the short end of the stick. She’s really sensible and always taking care of her family, but like all of us, she is also impressionable and easily persuaded (hence the title) but by the end of the book she develops as a character and comes into the world a better person.
Wow, I never realised how much I looked up to her until writing this.
Is this even a question at this point? Hi, if you’re new to my blog, my name is Ellyn, I am obsessed with Peter Pan and I have no shame.
Lost Boy is honestly one of my favourite reads of 2017 and by far the best retelling I have ever read and I don’t understand why more people haven’t read it. It’s basically the story of Peter Pan from the perspective of one of the Lost Boys. It also really highlights the bad sides of Peter Pan that you definitely don’t see in the Disney film, which is one of the reasons I love it.
I mean, there are just so many. I think my top 2018 release would have to be Escaping From Houdini but, honestly, I am looking forward to so many good books this year!
For this one, I’m going to go with the group of girls called The Nowhere Girls from the book of the same name. These girls are all amazing and the book is about them trying to find a voice and defend themselves in a town that doesn’t believe/& shames rape victims. It’s a really great book that gives a voice to women and shows how amazing we can be when we work together.
The Golden Door is amazing and you should go and read it right now. I know that I talk about this book a lot but it is honestly worth it! I re-read this trilogy every year or two and it never gets old. I love the characters and I love his unique and interesting the books are, it just makes me really happy whenever I read it!
We all have an author duo dream team. for a lot of people it’s Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli, but for me, hands down, it has to be Madeleine L’Engle & Seanan McGuire. I love their books and I think their book baby would be amazing! I love L’Engle’s writing and I think Seanan McGuire always writes really self-aware and interesting stories so combining their ideas would be amazing!
Hey Guys, today I’m coming at you with a not-so-new book tag! I was tagged by my bookish BFF, Rebecca from over @ Bookishlyrebecca to do the Kiss Marry Cliff tag. I did do this tag sometime last year and if you want to see me in more pain you can read that here.
I know that Rebecca did 10 rounds but I only did 5 this time because I didn’t want to make this post too long for you guys, I hope you enjoy it anyway guys!
Thomas Cresswell, Bruce Wayne, Mark Watney
Kiss: I mean, there is absolutely no way in hell that I am passing up the opportunity to kiss Thomas Cresswell. I don’t need to marry him because obviously, Audrey-Rose is perfect for him.
Marry: I am totes ma goats marrying Mark Watney. This guy is amazing, I mean, he’s a botanist who managed to colonise and survive on Mars. He’s one of my favourite fictional characters of all time and honestly, I think if he was real and I actually got to meet him I would be a little starstruck.
Cliff: Sorry Bruce, but I have enough emotional baggage of my own, and I really don’t know how I would feel about being with a serial killer in the future so… it’s to the cliff you go!
Evie O’Neill, Audrey-Rose Wadsworth, Tarver Merendsen
Kiss: Oh my gosh, this was actually so hard but I think I’m going to have to kiss Tarver He’s one of my favourites in the series (just below Lilac) but I think he is just too perfect with Lilac.
Marry: Picking between Tarver and Audrey-Rose was an honest to gosh hard decision, but I would be lying to myself if I didn’t pick Audrey-Rose over literally anyone else! She is one of my absolute favourites and she is a big part of why I love the Stalking Jack The Ripper series so much!
Cliff: I’m actually so sad to have to do this but Evie O’Neill is a goner! I think she’s a really complex and flawed character so I hate to do this but she is done for.
Rubeus Hagrid, Peter Pan, Kelsier
Kiss: Oh my god I kind of want to cliff all of them?? I guess I would kiss Peter because he’s twisted and all but he’s also a really interesting character? I do’t know, I guess I have a death wish.
Marry: If I marry Kelsier will I die???
Cliff: Look at me, cliffing one of my favourite characters of all time. Because I’m a ruthless badass (or I just really don’t want to kiss him ever). Sorry Hagrid, you don’t deserve half the sh*t you get in that series and look at me making it worse…
Scarlett Dragna, Rye, Percy Jackson
Kiss: Oh my goodness, I guess I’ll be kissing Rye today. #NotEvenMad
Marry: This is kind of a no brainer for me? Percy Jackson is hilarious and one of my favourite bookish personalities so I’d be stupid not to marry him (and then divorce him becuse Annabeth is goals).
Cliff: I’m sorry Scarlett but you’re kind of a wet blanket at times and I really don’t think we would get along.
Evelyn Hugo, Veronica Mars, Lilac Laroux
Kiss: I will be kissing the legendary Veronica Mars and I am honesly not even mad because she’s a babe.
Marry: Oh my God, I am so sorry Tarver, but I love Lilac Laroux and would gladly marry her. Without blinking. I would not even think about it. I would sign those forms and be the happiest gal on the block.
Cliff: Lol sorry Evelyn but I do not trust you in the slightest.
My Diviners buddy whom I love: Analee
My new bookish buddy whom I love: Malanie
I was literally thinking of writing a post similar to this when I logged onto my computer to find that the blogging queen herself, Zuky The BookBum! Thank you so much Zuky, I had no idea you could read minds! I’ve been wanting to et you guys get to know me better lately, so I hope you enjoy!
I have been blogging since June 1st of 2016. So, I’ve officially been blogging for just under 2 years. I know its cliché to say but, I honestly hadn’t realised I had been blogging for so long and time has just flown by so quickly, and that’s all due to you guys! (because you’re all awesome)
I do enjoy doing tags, and I hope to create my own someday, but I definitely don’t do them as often as I could o maybe should on my blog. I just find that I am less creative when I do tags, and my blog is really the only place I have a creative space, so I guess I just do them less because I’m a snob and must always be at the centre of attention. *not really and am I writing sarcasm right? help me!*
Um… am I a bad blogger if I say no?
Recommendations. Anxiety. Honest. Aussie. Red.
372. Oh. how time flies by! And, I can guarantee that at least half of those posts are not even worth your time because I was not a quality blogger™ back in the day and I don’t know how my OG followers even dealt with me.
I think I’ll have to say the same as Zuky and go with 7.5
I love blogging (and sometimes blogging loves me) but, if I told you I wasn’t constantly stressed out about my blog and that I don’t sometimes stay up to 3 am because I’m anxious about my blog aesthetic then I would be lying. I am definitely proud of my blog (and myself) but, this is the second most anxiety-inducing thing in my life. Which is quite the achievement because, not to brag, but my life is a mess and I am an anxious heap 275% of the time.

It really depends on my mood, and I am one moody person so really I don’t know how anything gets done. Actually, I am pretty stubborn, so it’s probably that. Sometimes I will literally refuse to let myself get up until I finish my blog post/outline. You need to pee? Type faster!
Yup. I’m classy, don’t you know?
Honestly, though, it really does depend on the day and whether or not my brain wants to work with me. I will either bake 10 cakes, write 5 blog posts, finish a book and “sing” the entire Aladdin Musical soundtrack 30 times throughout the day, or I will sit on the couch, probably bake at least one cake and watch like, half an episode of The Office. I generally have to force myself to go through my reader though, because I guess I hate socialising or something, I don’t know.
It’s day three! Are you relieved? Funnily enough, I’m not and I couldn’t be more grateful to Rebecca & Malanie for tagging me in this. I’ve never been one for quotes or the aesthetic of them but this tag has really made me appreciate them and the author who wrote or said them. So without further ado, here is my quote for the last day of the tag!
Today I’m putting the light on another quote, though it doesn’t come from a book. I thought since my last two quotes have been directy from the page I would change it up with a verbal quote, this time from one of the most famous authors in our history!
JANE AUSTEN! While I have yet to read all of her works, I am making an effort to read more classics this year even though I haven’t started Uni yet. I really love this quote because it pretty much sums me up – if it’s a good and productive day you can bet I’m drinking some tea. This is especially fitting for me at the moment as it is definitely that aesthetic tea-reading time of year in Australia – it hasn’t stopped raining all week and so, naturally I haven’t stopped reading!
